Avon/Perfectly Matte Lipstick

I always love finding a budget alternative to my higher end brands, sometimes in life you just cant justify spending lots of cash on a beauty product, but then you also cant live without it.

Let me introduce you to Avon's Perfectly Matte Lipstick*, claims to be more matte than MAC and at a third of the price this is news to my ears!

This is a new launch by Avon and I've been lucky enough to road test one of the shades and I have to say I'm actually impressed. The case is lovely and soft and has a little clear window in the top of the lid, it looks like a luxury lippie and has the Avon branding round the base.

I went for the shade Posie Pink, a natural baby pink tone which would suit pretty much every skin tone. The first thing I noticed when I applied is how soft and buttery it was, it doesn't drag on the lips like my beloved Ruby Woo and although this particular shade doesn't stain the lips like my MAC ones do I have to say I actually think for a budget version it's really quite good.
I cant say how well the staying power of the bolder shades hold up but this light one lasts probably an hour on the lips, with no feathering or bleeding.

Smells sweet, almost vanilla-ish and is really comfortable to wear.

Comes in 15 shades from neutral to bold head over to the Avon Website to shop them at an introductory price of just £5.

MAC/In Synch Lip Pencil

MAC In Synch Lip Pencil is one of the new additions to my Muji. I always find myself applying lipstick and gloss and to be honest on a night out it can be annoying, I hate having bare lips when I'm out and the MUA's in MAC always rave about using a liner on the lips to give it real staying power.

I've been lusting after this one for a while now, In Synch is a bubblegum shade, almost a peachy pink with a yellow undertone.
It's quite dry in comparison to some of the other lip pencils and looks matte when it's applied.
Exfoliation is key prior to applying this to the lips it wont look good if your lips are cracked and scaly, you can team this with a gloss if you want to, I find MAC Fashion Fanatic is a lovely one to pair it up with, as I have here.....
Or you can leave it if you fancy a spring inspired matte lip, with some real staying power.....
MAC Lip Pencils retail at £12 each, and to be honest they will last you so much longer than a lipstick.

Revlon ColourBurst Matte & Lacquer Balm

If you didn't get hooked on Revlon's ColourBurst Butter last year, then maybe these will catch your eye....

Brand new from Revlon is the ColourBurst Balm Collection*
ColourBurst Balm, the collection will consist of 6 hot shades to take you right through spring & summer. Available in 2 on trend finishes, Matte & Lacquer, the Matte is for you if you want bold and velvety looking lips, go for the Lacquer if you want something a little more subtle with a moisturising feel on the lips.

They come in a chunky crayon design, I find these really easy to apply especially as the matte shades are bold if you were using a traditional lipstick bullet you'd definitely need a brush and a mirror, yet this stuff glides on without any dragging or pulling.

I've been test running these over the weekend and I have to say I'm so into the matte finish it's gorgeous, really does look like velvet on the lips, and unlike some other matte lip colours its not drying at all, and it wont flake or feather on your lips.

'Matte Finish ColourBurst Balm in 'Unapologetic'
Top Swatch: 'Lacquer Finish ColourBurst Balm in shade 105 Demure Reservee'
Bottom Swatch: 'Matte Finish ColourBurst Balm in shade 210 Unapologetic'
Swatches side by side, Right is the 'Lacquer' Balm & the Left is the 'Matte' Balm.
These are not yet on sale here in the UK, don't panic though the lovely people at Boots have a wait list (exclusively) for you, so you'll be the first to get one as soon as they go on sale add your name to the list right here!

Price will be around £8 each, I think it's really reasonable as you'll get months of use from each one.

Will you be treating yourself to Revlon's Colourburst Balm?
