Microdermabrasion @ Hyde Park Clinic

I have been curious about Microdermabrasion for quite some time, so I thought I would finally take the plunge and go for it!

Microdermabrasion has been dubbed the lunch time peel. It is quick, easy and has a rapid recovery time. A single medical Microdermabrasion session may remove as much as of the surface layer of skin as 3 x 30% Glycolic Peels!

I chose the Hyde Park Clinic in Plymouth, as they are well known and trusted for these kind of procedures, as well as having the very best in trained professionals and doctors performing them.

I never had bad acne as a teen but I have always suffered from larger pores on my cheeks, nose & chin, I'm really conscious of them & no amount of foundation will cover them.

I know this picture will scare you but here is a close up of my skin prior to my treatment.....

You can see my skin tone is uneven and quite red, I am so conscious of my scarring and large pores too :(
So my treatment took an hour and was actually really relaxing! I had a full cleanse and polish prior to the microdermabrasion wand being rubbed over my face, it was totally painless, and I had my whole face done twice & then she concentrated on my problem areas, for me this was my forehead, nose, chin, cheeks.

Then to finish I had a face mask applied....LOL

The things I do for my blog lol! So my after result.....

This is literally 20 mins after my treatment & although there is a slight redness to my face pores are smaller and my skin feels like satin!

I was told I may be confident enough to go make up free after the treatment, but I really didn't feel my results gave me enough confidence to ditch my foundation.

I was told at my session that in order to get maximum results you need 1 treatment a week for 6 weeks! And at £65 a go I honestly would say this is worth it.

The staff at Hyde Park Clinic were lovely, but this treatment just didn't give me the 'wow' factor I was hoping for.

Have you tried microdermabrasion? If so what did you think of the results?

Panda Mani

Since my nails have grown thanks to the regular use of my OPI Nail Envy, I wanted to do something a little different.

So i thought I would recreate a panda mani i had seen a while ago, the great thing about this design is that your nails can be almost any length to do the design, mine are not super long but i think it still looks good.

Here is a step by step guide so you to can create your very own Panda Mani :)

You really don't need many products either which is fab, to do the Panda Mani all you need is....

MO Topcoat, MO Nail Art Pen, Barry M Black & White Polish & Dotting Tools
What you need:
  • Barry M Polish Shade 66, Matt White, from Boots £2.99
  • Barry M Polish Shade 47, Black, from Boots £2.99
  • Models Own Nail Art Pen, from Boots £6.00
  • Models Own 3 in 1 Base/Top Coat/Gloss, from Boots £5.00
  • Dotting Tools, Pack of 6, from Ebay under £3

First make sure you prep your nails with a coat of base coat, if you don't have a base coat a topcoat will do, it helps your polish last longer & prevents staining of your natural nails.

Then taking the white Barry M polish (matt white shade 66) simply paint it up half your nail bed, and you don't have to be really neat here, so don't worry if you don't have a steady hand!

Then using the largest ball on one of your dotting tools simply pop 2 black dots on the line of the white polish, again it doesn't have to be neat in fact the less perfect the cuter the effect I think!

And again using the smaller end of one of the dotting tools place dots almost at the end of your nails to make the noses of the panda....

And finally pop in the black dots for the eyes, you should end up with 5 dots on the white that look like this...

Now you'll need to get white polish and a tiny dotting tip, to make the whites of the eyes, and the you make the middle of the eyes black by using the nail art pen.

To seal in your Panda's make sure you pop a coat of topcoat over the finished design, when its all dry of course!

And there you have it, perfect Panda Mani :) Super Cute don't you think?!

If you try out the Panda Mani i would love to see your nails too!

Kleenex Beauty Range

Kleenex, a brand we are all familiar with, have recently launched a beauty range. Love the packaging, showing cute little masks on each product. Subtly implying that we can use them to take our masks off!

And I must say I'm pretty impressed with the range of products. Keeping this simple & only having 4 products makes life a whole lot easier.

Priced between £1.99 & £3.99 its so reasonably priced too.

A trusted brand at an affordable price, whats not to love!

So the range as i mentioned consists of just 4 products....

Shine Absorbing Sheets £2.99 for 50

An essential for every busy woman's handbag, the Shine Absorbing Sheets provide an efficient and discreet way of blotting excess shine caused by oil that builds up on your skin during the day. The sheets remove the shine without disturbing your makeup so are fantastic for quick touch-ups to keep you looking immaculate.

Eye Make Up Remover Wipes £2.99 for 24

These soft, quilted eye makeup removal wipes contain natural fibres and provide a gentle and effective cleanse, removing your 'mask' at the end of the day. They are suitable even for sensitive skin and effectively remove stubborn waterproof mascara. You can also feel good about using them as they have a lower environment impact than a standard wipe material.

Facial Cleansing Wipes £2.99 for 24

These soft, quilted wipes contain natural fibres and provide a gentle and effective cleanse, removing your "mask" at the end of the day. They are suitable even for sensitive skin, with a light and clean scent.

Facial Cloths £1.99 for 30

These gentle, cotton sheets are not only larger but softer, and are designed to be more effective at cleansing than cotton wool due to their quilted texture and natural fibres. They are soft and strong when wet or dry, so you can use them not only while applying cleanser and toner, but also while removing facemasks and even nail varnish.

My personal fave product has to be the oil absorbing sheets, these little babies are genius!

And you can currently get 50% off the entire range at Superdrug & Sainsbury's.

Do you use any of the Kleenex Beauty Range? If so what do you like about it?

HD Brows

Following the celeb trend I thought I better road test HD Brows for you all...so I popped along to The Brow & Lash Bar in Plymouth, and was greeted by a lovely HD Brow Tech Becca.

What is HD brows??
HD brows treatment includes:
Tinting, Waxing, Tweezing, Threading, Fresh Mineral Make Up & Eyebrow Pencil, to create fabulous
defined eyebrows. This amazing treatment lifts the eye and frames the face, it is not a permenant prodedure
so therefore needs to be repeated to keep them looking fantastic every 4-6 weeks.

HD Brows is a high-precision procedure that transforms even the most over plucked brow into its perfect
shape, dramatically enhancing your facial features. Based on the ancient art of 'threading', the treatment
consists of seven unique procedures that are performed by highly trained and skilled HD Brows stylists.

This isn't just shaping and tidying–HD Brows is eyebrow artistry.

And my over waxed & out of shape brows were well in need of a fix!
So here they are ungroomed for 3 weeks before my brow treatment....

Awful! I'm sure you'll agree!

Becca worked her HD Brow magic on me, starting with a consultation to discuss what brow shape
would suit my face & and ideas I had for how I want my brow to look.

I wanted the fullness back in my brows, they do nothing for my eyes, I look tired etc and I really wanted
more definition...you may not get the brow you want from the first treatment as you might need to let
your brows grow a bit etc so that eventually they can be shaped into the style you want.
I have to let mine grow at the arch, as they have been plucked to death!

She then tinted my brows, combed them through, waxed them, tweezed them, threaded them, and
pencilled them a little bit too....

And they now look like this.....

So just to compare...

After HD Brow Treatment

Before

I love my new HD Brows! I really think they look so much more defined & really lift my eyes.

Check out their website to find a technician near you: http://www.hd-brows.co.uk/

What do you think? Will you be getting HD Brows?
